Commit To Visit The Blue

Pearland HS DE Samuel Ukwuachu (Pearland, TX) became Boise State's second verbal commitment for the 2011 recruiting class back in early June. He has yet to visit The Blue, but that will change soon as he will be taking an unofficial visit to Boise State in the near future. When is he visiting? He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his upcoming visit to Boise State and his future as a Bronco.

Pearland HS DE Samuel Ukwuachu (Pearland, TX) became Boise State's second verbal commitment for the 2011 recruiting class back in early June. He has yet to visit The Blue, but that will change later this month as he will take an unofficial visit to Boise State. When is he visiting? "I'm going up there on July 31st. I might go back for an official visit in September," he said. "My dad talked to Coach K about when we're going and everything," he added.

The future Bronco is eager to tour the campus and get a closer look at where he'll be playing his college ball. "I'm very excited," he said. "I can't wait to go out there and look around. People have told me it's a great place. I'm looking forward to it since I haven't been outside of Texas in a while."

The Bronco coaching staff targeted Ukwuachu as the #1 DE prospect on their recruiting board. That was one of the main factors that enticed him to commit to Boise State and become a Bronco. "I'm looking forward to talking to the coaches and seeing where I'll be on the field," he said." I just want to form a bond with my new teammates and coaches. I want to talk to them about everything so later on we can build from there."

Recruiting is all about developing relationships. The Boise State staff has excelled in this area since Chris Petersen became Head Coach and it appears this recruiting class is just business as usual. "I speak to Coach K, Coach Petersen, and Coach Choate," he said. "I'm still feeling that love. Me and them have gotten real close. We talk about personal things and life. They're good people and I want to learn more about them in the coming years."

Early enrollees have become a fixture in the Boise State football program over the past few years. Samuel is hoping to graduate early and arrive on campus in time for spring football. Currently, he's gathering information about what classes he'll need in order to accomplish this goal. "I'm trying to figure out how many credits I'll need to possibly graduate early and get out there for spring ball," he stated. "I'm taking Spanish II next month and I'll probably take another course."

Pearland's goal last season was to win a state championship. They finished 8-3 and lost in the first round of the state playoffs. In 2010, they hope for better results. The talented DE is doing his part by studying film and working harder than ever. "Our school has a strength and conditioning camp Monday-Thursday," Ukwuachu said. "I'm lifting in the morning and afternoon. Normally, I go out there and watch film too. I've watched every game at least twenty times since school ended," Ukwuachu added.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Samuel Ukwuachu.
