Rocklin HS QB Jimmy Laughrea (Rocklin, CA) became the first verbal commitment for the Boise State 2011 recruiting class back in May. The start of the regular season is fast approaching and Rocklin is gearing up for another run as they try to duplicate their success from the 2009 campaign. What are his thoughts on beginning his senior season? "I feel ready to go," he said. "I feel strong, healthy, and everything is looking good. We're real close to being right on like we were last year," he added.

In 2009, Rocklin finished with an outstanding record of 14-1. They enter the 2010 season expecting to contend once again and it all starts with the opener against Los Banos on Friday. "We have Los Banos this week. They're supposed to be a good and strong team," Laughrea said. "We'll see what we're made of and it'll be interesting coming off last weekend since we didn't play too well in the scrimmage. We're just going to run our offense and make the adjustments as the game goes along."

Laughrea's goal for his senior season is to simply win as many games as possible. The Thunder averaged over 30 PPG in 2009 and he feels the offense could be just as good this season. "I just want to win as many games as we can. That's what I'm hoping for," he said. "We have the ability to be as good as last year on offense. It all depends on how hard our kids work."

The future Bronco committed to Boise State in May and has kept in close contact with Offensive Coordinator Bryan Harsin over the past few months. "I call Coach Harsin every week. He sometimes checks in to see how I'm doing as well," he stated. "He always has a few tips to offer on how I can improve and can really breakdown what I need to do to get better."

Boise State made its debut in the top five in both major polls this pre-season. That's a first for the program and Jimmy is excited about being a part of it starting next year. "I think it's awesome. I'm very grateful to be a part of something like that in the future," he said. "It's great for the program and for recruiting too. It's a plus for me and my future at Boise State."

Jimmy Laughrea (6'2, 187, 4.76) committed to Boise State over offers from Washington State, San Jose State, Wyoming, Utah State, and Sacramento State. In 2009, he threw for 2,635 yards and 22 TDs. He also rushed for 383 yards and 6 TDs.
