After 15 days
of spring practice, the Boise State football team will play
in the annual Blue & Orange Game tonight at 6 in Bronco Stadium.
The annual
affair is actually more of a scrimmage than a game. The team used to take on the Alumni in a game
that was one of the most attended in the nation. These days, the team scrimmages against
itself following a developed script. Even without the game against the Alumni, this year's scrimmage is expected to draw 10-15,000.
This year, the
Bronco coaches have designed a scoring system that pits the offense against the
defense in an even competition. The offense will earn points for
touchdowns, explosive plays (run of 12 or more yards or pass of 16 or more
yards), three consecutive first downs, extra points and field goals.
The defense can
score points with touchdowns, turnovers, three and outs, sacks, blocked field
goals and extra points and with a sudden change (holding the offense to a field
goal or no score when it started the possession inside the 35-yard line).
Tickets for the
spring game were included in your season ticket package last year if you bought
season tickets. Otherwise, they are $5
each, and will be sold outside entrance #4. Due to Building A Better Blue Construction, all seating will be on the east
side only via entrances #4 and #3. Bronco Stadium parking will be open to
the public at 3 this afternoon.
If you are
unable to attend the spring game, it will be available to watch LIVE and On
Demand on Bronco Vision. For more
