Boise State
has done it. Coach Greg Patton’s Bronco
tennis team captured its third consecutive Western Athletic Conference
championship with a dominating 4-0 win over highly-regarded Fresno
State.
The 23rd-ranked
Broncos put on a dazzling display of doubles before a crowd of over 800 at the Appleton
Tennis Center
this afternoon, collecting two wins to earn the point. They then mowed down the Bulldogs in straight
sets with first Blake Boswell, then Luke Shields and finally Steve Robertson
earning victories.
The win by the Bronco netters ties the school record for WAC
Championships that was set last year with four.
The Fiesta Bowl Champion football team, the Bronco women’s basketball
squad and the men’s indoor track team all have league trophies proudly
displayed for their efforts this season.
Boise State
automatically qualifies for the NCAA National Tournament once again this
year—the team will learn its fate Tuesday at 2:30
when the Selection Show is featured on ESPN.
Kudos to the Three-Peat Champion Broncos!
