| Biography: |
| One of the winningest active coaches in Division I-A football. After a controversial few months as Alabama's head coach he was hired by UTEP in 2003 and immediately resurrected the long-suffering Miners' program. Was head coach at Washington State for 14 seasons, from 1989 to 2002. Had an 83-78 record at WSU, with 10-win seasons in 1997, 2001 and 2002. Guided Cougars to five bowl games, including two Rose Bowls. He was named National Coach of the Year in 1997. Was a backup Washington State quarterback in the 1960s and a WSU assistant coach in the 1970s. Was head coach at Weber State before becoming WSU's head man in 1989.
